The truth of finite net gate

The campus network of Lanzhou University is extremely crowded these days. It takes a few seconds for Thunder to download something, which is shocking, and it can be offline with QQ. Yesterday, the school issued regulations that each user can only use 20G traffic a month. For a time, the campus network was full of protests from Yuzhong campus. Many of them are protesting against the school's practice. Today, I want to think about the "Internet-restricted Gate" of Lanzhou University from a place that everyone may overlook.

Personally, I think the most essential reason for the school's "restricted network door" is: the competition between mobile and telecom customers!

Let's see what happened before the 20 10 Spring Festival. At that time, in Lanzhou University, there were three enterprises: China Mobile, China Unicom and Telecom, plus the communication network center of the school. In the mobile phone business, mobile is the only one, and China Unicom basically does not need it; Telecom is only used by a few broadband users, which should be the most comfortable day for mobile. At the same time, in online business, most students use the campus network. Ten dollars a month, you can take as many computers as you want. Generally, a dormitory can be used by four people. However, it is very difficult to play online games on the campus network, so a small number of users choose to open broadband to telecommunications. During this period, the main mobile market is the mobile phone business. As far as I know, life is very easy without online merchants. Telecom, mainly engaged in broadband, is used by only a few people. Most of the internet access is managed by the network center of the school. In fact, this is a good dynamic balance.

But this balance was broken last semester.

Telecom took the lead in making trouble. Last semester, the call cost was greatly reduced (80 cents a minute, 10 cents a minute for moving), and five home numbers can be set; One SMS bag, one wallet, one hundred, and the extra is five cents. What about moving? Five yuan 100, eight yuan 200, ten yuan 250; Mobile Internet traffic, free telecommunications 20M, mobile 5 yuan 30m ~ ~ ~

It is clear at a glance which is better or worse. Who is more attractive?

It should be said that telecommunications really caught mobile off guard. So, in June, Mobile invited Stephanie, Cyndi Wang, Adu and other stars to the headquarters of Lanzhou University, and the most important thing to get tickets was to be mobile users (preferably in the M-Zone, and college students are basically in the M-Zone), and then pre-stored the phone bill to get tickets. Then the activities of charging 100 and sending 120 were launched one after another.

Perhaps Telecom saw the benefits of a series of measures such as price reduction, so it wanted to take the opportunity of 20 10 freshmen to take a bigger action to grab users!

Perhaps Mobile also foresaw the big move of telecom this semester, so after returning to school in summer vacation, we found that all floors of the dormitory were equipped with mobile wireless Internet access equipment.

I was quite puzzled at the time. Who can use it? How good the campus network is! Only ghosts can use mobile phones to surf the Internet wirelessly. (PS: Now it seems that the mobile company is really far-sighted, quite far-sighted, and really a god. )

At the end of August, the new year was ushered in, and telecommunications pursued it. Pay 200, get 230 phone bills, and get another mobile phone. In addition to continuing to enjoy the discount of last semester's home number, the donated traffic has changed from 20M to1100mm. What about mobile? Five dollars or 30 meters ~ mobile is not far behind, and activities such as sending bicycles with prepaid phone bills have been launched one after another. However, it still can't stop the loss of customers. During the welcome period, I heard the rumor that China Mobile and Telecom are vying for users. I wonder if it's true.

After a few days of super slow campus network, the school finally came out and said the following sentence.

Campus network users:

In order to further standardize the management of campus network, CERNET National Network Center has strictly implemented the policy of allocating bandwidth according to fees since August 4th. According to the campus network access service agreement signed between our school and the National Network Center, the export bandwidth of our school's education network is 1.2G, but the actual test bandwidth has been around 2G, and the network congestion is very serious. After two weeks of monitoring, nearly 70% of the traffic is video and P2P applications, and 20% of users download more than 10G a day, which seriously affects the normal surfing of most users.

In order to use the campus network reasonably and effectively, better serve teaching and scientific research, and at the same time give consideration to other applications of the Internet, so that teachers and students can have a better experience when using the campus network. After full investigation and learning from other universities, it is planned to take measures to control the maximum monthly flow of users. At the same time, considering the serious network congestion in the student area, we plan to conduct a test in the student dormitory area first, and ask the students to actively cooperate.

Examination time: from 9: 00 on September 2 10, 20 1. Test scheme: each user will have 20G of external network traffic per month (limited to 7G this month), and users will not be able to access the external network after using it. The account number is an email address, such as lzu@lzu.cn, and the initial password is an email password. For details, please refer to the homepage of Network Center or the Network Center Edition of Northwest Hope BBS. Tel: 89 12027 E-mail :noc@lzu.edu.cn.

Mobile also launched its own Internet service at the beginning of this semester, striving to develop wireless Internet services while retaining mobile phone users.

Today, in order to write this article, buddy, I went to China Mobile and Telecom to inquire about the tariff of Internet service.

Telecommunications:

There is no time limit for 2M bandwidth.

(1) Personal Edition. The initial installation fee is more than 500 yuan, including the internet access fee this semester, and 60 yuan every month thereafter. 200 for half a semester. First of all, there is only one excuse for telecom broadband to be a dormitory. If you install the personal edition, no one else can use it.

(2) Dormitory collective edition. Starting at 768 (floating within this price range 10 yuan. Dude, I have a bad memory, but I can't remember exactly how much. Four people at most.

Four people use 2M bandwidth. The network speed can be imagined.

Move:

1M bandwidth

5 yuan, 15 hours; 10 yuan 40 hours; 20 yuan 100 hour; 40 yuan for 250 hours. The mobile phone number is bound to the online account. Bundle M-Zone users!

Come on! Which one do you choose?

In view of the garbage in the campus network, I can't stand its low speed, and because of the disadvantage of telecom broadband service, I believe most people will still choose mobile Internet service. Therefore, mobile has thus bound mobile phone users and expanded its own new business growth point. This is a big business for thousands of people. Brilliant and visionary!

It's amazing to install wireless internet access equipment in the dormitory building during the summer vacation. The prediction is too accurate.

At the end of the article, I have some questions that I don't understand?

When the bandwidth of the campus network is about 2G, and it returns to the actual bandwidth of 1.2G, I think it can be understood that in an ideal state, the speed of surfing the Internet with the campus network is now 0.6 times that of the original. However, this assumption is based on the fact that the download speed of Thunder is 0.6 times, the speed of opening web pages is 0.6 times, and the speed of accessing QQ is 0.6 times. But what about the actual speed now? The initial average speed of lightning is 2M~4M, sometimes reaching 10M. What about now? A dozen K's, sometimes reaching a small K, make it difficult for me to understand. I don't understand. Does not conform to the mathematical geometric series.

When writing an article, I surf the Internet and open a webpage, which is no different from the previous campus network. Is there a small number of people surfing the internet at this time? I don't know the exact answer. However, according to the probability distribution, there should be as many people surfing the Internet at this time today as there were a few days ago. But why so soon? This should be the actual speed of the campus network!

Think again that Mobile has the foresight to predict the future during the summer vacation, and wireless internet access equipment is installed on every floor of the dormitory, which inevitably makes me deeply think about the confusing relationship between school and Mobile. Perhaps intriguing!

In any case, we students are always hit hardest.

But that's the truth. We can choose a good one. If you can't change it, you can only actively engage in mobile broadband services.

Now in the wait-and-see period, it is really not possible. Can only be cheap, this boy!

Hey ~ my money! Hey ~ the money of campus network users!

Go well ~
