What did YINGYING ZHANG tell us?
I graduated from Sun Yat-sen University with a bachelor's degree and graduated from YINGYING ZHANG of Peking University with a master's degree. In April this year, I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for exchange and study, and lost contact on June 9. This incident has aroused widespread concern of local Chinese and the people of the motherland. On June 30th, the FBI announced the arrest of a 27-year-old man suspected of kidnapping YINGYING ZHANG, a visiting scholar in China. Regrettably, the FBI expressed its belief that YINGYING ZHANG was dead.

Although the YINGYING ZHANG incident is only a case, people are praying that YINGYING ZHANG will be safe. But inevitably, China's parents are more and more worried. Parents are worried about whether their children have the characteristics of "perfect victims". In fact, compared with the terrible security incidents, many international students in China are quite lacking in safety awareness. Some even say that those children who go abroad with their parents full of expectations are simply "silly and sweet".

Iron Law 1: Do you keep a low profile and not "show off your wealth"? Give the bad guys a reason not to hurt you.

Children in China lack safety awareness, and they often "ask for trouble". In recent years, the incidents of robbery of China students exposed by the media are all related to "showing off their wealth", and even some children were robbed just after they bought a "luxury car".

There is an old saying in China: If you are not afraid of thieves stealing, you are afraid of thieves thinking. This kind of answer is actually to dispel the bad guys' attempts and let them have no reason to hurt themselves.

"It is best to put away valuables, such as necklaces and bracelets, when the location is remote and there are few peers." This is summed up by many international students. The most direct way to avoid letting the bad guys stare at themselves is to "keep a low profile as much as possible". Many experts remind that "showing off wealth" is actually exposing yourself to "bad guys" and attracting "danger" to yourself.

Iron Law 2: Do girls travel together? Learn to distinguish "bad guys" skillfully when you are alone.

"In fact, in the YINGYING ZHANG incident, it is still possible to avoid tragedy." Tianwang said that it would be much safer if YINGYING ZHANG could go with his friends. "In foreign countries, remember not to leave yourself alone with the opposite sex for a long time." .

Especially for women, "traveling together" and "not being alone with strangers of the opposite sex" are almost the "iron laws" given by experts studying abroad. Having a companion not only helps to avoid being invaded by the bad guys, but also helps in time even when there is a dangerous event. "Everyone should establish their own circle of friends. No matter at home or abroad, you should have friends you can trust and rely on.

Iron Law 3: Don't be too confident? Be familiar with the life-saving information around you.

"The area marked with safety warning must be very dangerous, so always be vigilant." Xiong Bingqi said that some students in China tend to treat some safety warnings as "decorations".

This is also related to the lack of safety education received by our domestic children. "At present, China's safety education is mainly about instilling ideas, not' concrete and subtle'." For example, we often say "you can't trust strangers", but what is a stranger? These concepts are not clearly told to children.

Finally, provide a very useful security strategy, and be sure to teach it to your daughter or female friends around you. When girls take a taxi alone, they should pay attention to:

1. It is best to remember the taxi company, license plate number and driver characteristics.

2. If you take a taxi alone at night, you can make an appointment by phone to give yourself an extra layer of protection.

You'd better find a friend to walk with you to the front of the car, write down the car number and make an appointment with you outside the window. (well, several girlfriends around me are particularly concerned. Sometimes we get together and go home separately, and close girlfriends always do this for others. )

4. Pay special attention to the abnormality in the car when getting on the bus, and be vigilant at any time.

If necessary, please ask your family to wait in a bright place at your destination.
