Originally named Beiyang Medical College, the school was founded in Tianjin with the approval of the Qing government in 1894. It is the first government-run western medicine college in modern China. 19 13 was renamed zhili public medical college, 19 15 was moved from Tianjin to Baoding, 192 1 merged with other schools and was called the medical department of Hebei university; 1932, Hebei University was dissolved and the Medical Department was established independently. It was renamed Hebei Medical College. 1937, the school was closed due to the Japanese occupation of North China. 1946 Hebei provincial medical college resumed its studies in Baoding, 1947 moved back to Tianjin. 1949 changed its name to Hebei medical college, 1952 moved to Baoding, and 1958 moved to Shijiazhuang. 1970 Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was merged into Hebei Medical College and renamed as Hebei New Medical University; 1979 independently established Hebei college of traditional Chinese medicine and restored the name of Hebei medical college; From 65438 to 0995, Hebei Medical College, Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shijiazhuang Medical College merged to form Hebei Medical University. In 2009, the former Shijiazhuang Health School merged, and Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine resumed its independent establishment on 20 13. The school uses the name of Hebei Medical University.
