Dance Science (050409)

Training objectives: to train excellent dance teachers for universities, primary and secondary schools; Training qualified literary and art propagandists for party and government organs, enterprises and institutions, and literary and art organizations; Cultivate inheritors and creators for national dance and modern art.

Main courses: basic training of ballet, basic training of China classical dance, dance anatomy, Chinese and foreign dance history, appreciation and analysis of dance works, dance aesthetics, China folk dance culture, national folk dance, body charm, dance skills, choreography skills, modern dance, dance teaching methods, music knowledge, piano, etc.

This major lasts for four years and is awarded with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Musicology major was determined by Hunan Provincial Department of Education as the only "key major of ordinary colleges and universities in Hunan Province". Vocal music is rated as a provincial-level excellent course, which is the only excellent course for musicology majors in Hunan universities. The college excavated, sorted out and created a number of music and dance festivals (songs) with unique national characteristics, which were broadcast on central and Hunan TV stations for many times and won unanimous praise from experts and peers inside and outside the province, and were deeply loved by the audience.
