Medical education in Lanzhou University originated from 1932 Department of Specialized Medicine in Gansu University. National Northwest Medical College was founded in 1942, and changed its name to Lanzhou Branch of National Northwest Medical College in 1945. 1946 In the summer, Lanzhou Branch of National Northwest Medical College was merged into the newly established National Lanzhou University and renamed as National lanzhou university school of medicine.
