1937 after the outbreak of the all-round anti-Japanese war, the people of Zhejiang quickly set off the climax of the anti-Japanese national salvation movement. On August 5th, Zhejiang Anti-Enemy Support Association was established in Hangzhou.
On August 3rd, zhejiang-jiangxi railway Workers' Anti-Enemy Support Association was established, and branches were established in stations along the route, such as Hangzhou, Jinhua, Quzhou and Jiangshan. The main task is to meet the needs of war, transport troops' ammunition and fully support the front line. On September 26th, the railway bridge of Qiantang River Bridge was completed ahead of schedule with the efforts of workers day and night, and the Shanghai-Hangzhou and Zhejiang-Jiangxi lines were connected. In the Battle of Songhu, Zhejiang became an important military rear area. Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway, zhejiang-jiangxi railway-Suzhou-Jiaxing Railway, Beijing-Hangzhou Highway and Waterway continuously transported military materials to the front, which strongly supported Shanghai's war of resistance.
In July, the cultural circles in Hangzhou held a charity performance of the labor force, performing plays such as "The Last Minute" to comfort the soldiers ahead. In September, four universities, including Zhejiang University, Zhijiang College of Arts and Sciences, Hangzhou Art College and Zhejiang Medical College, jointly organized a condolence group, and the Hangzhou YMCA organized a service group for the disabled to go to Shanghai to join the army with a large number of condolences.
Many officers and men injured at the front line were transported from Shanghai to Hangzhou for medical treatment or moved to the rear area, and the rescue work for the wounded soldiers was very heavy. In order to make up for the shortage of military hospitals, the provincial government set up 17 temporary wounded hospital in Hangzhou, and the ancient temple Zhaoqing Temple and Guobao Temple became temporary hospitals. The rescue team of the Provincial Anti-Japanese Support Association was established 1 1, and the Hangzhou Buddhist Association also organized a rescue team, and 60 brave men who had been trained in rescue were deployed from various temples to take on the work of rescuing the wounded.
