The history of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary College of Jilin University can be traced back to Beiyang Horse Medical School founded by the Qing government. Established in 1904. After the founding of New China, 1953 was inscribed by Commander-in-Chief Zhu De, and was established as China People's Liberation Army Veterinary University. 1992 was renamed China People's Liberation Army Agriculture and Animal Husbandry University, and 1999 was renamed China People's Liberation Army Quartermaster University. In 2004, the former quartermaster university was transferred and merged into Jilin University, and later transformed into the College of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Jilin University.

The college now offers three undergraduate majors: animal medicine, animal science and biotechnology. Animal medicine, pet medicine, experimental animal science, veterinary health, animal biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals. There are 977 full-time undergraduates, 273 master students and 58 doctoral students/kloc-0. In 2006, in the evaluation of postgraduate education level of China University, the comprehensive strength of veterinary specialty ranked second in China.

The college has 1 national key disciplines (preventive veterinary medicine); 3 provincial key disciplines (basic veterinary medicine, animal genetics, breeding and reproduction, biochemistry and molecular biology); Two Post-Doctoral Research Center (veterinary medicine, biochemistry and molecular biology); 7 disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees (biochemistry and molecular biology, basic veterinary medicine, preventive veterinary medicine, clinical veterinary medicine, animal genetics, breeding and reproduction, zoology, zoonosis); 12 Master's authorized disciplines (zoology, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, animal genetics, breeding and reproduction, animal nutrition and feed science, grassland science, special economic zoology, basic veterinary medicine, preventive veterinary medicine, clinical veterinary medicine, military preventive medicine, zoonosis). At present, there are 0/08 faculty members, including 8 professors, 26 associate professors and 28 doctoral supervisors (including part-time). Since 1978, * * * has won more than 340 teaching and scientific research achievement awards. At present, it undertakes more than 70 key projects of National Natural Science Foundation, national key projects, "863" and "973" projects, EU framework, China-France advanced plan and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects.
