Jinan University took the lead in setting up an emergency management college in China, conducting research on the basic theory and technology application of emergency management, and exploring the cultivation of high-level compound talents in emergency management, which will certainly play a positive role in improving public emergency management capabilities, providing effective decision support for the government, and maintaining social harmony and stability. It is hoped that Jinan University will seize the opportunity, bravely shoulder the heavy burden, blaze new trails, and strive to build the School of Emergency Management into a high-standard and high-level professional college, build an important base for emergency management education and training, and make positive contributions to emergency management in Guangdong and the whole country.

In his speech, President Hu Jun emphasized that the establishment of the first emergency management college in China is a great event in the history of our school's development and construction. Since 1958 was rebuilt in Guangzhou, especially in the past 30 years of reform and opening up, our school has given full play to the policy advantages of overseas Chinese universities and the geographical advantages of running schools in Guangdong and being adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, and has carried out many pioneering reform explorations in domestic and provincial universities. It is the first to set up a medical college in a comprehensive university in China, and the first to set up an economics college and a journalism department in Guangdong, which has become a well-known brand of higher education in Guangdong and an important force in rejuvenating Guangdong through science and education. Therefore, our school will take further practical actions to build an emergency management college, making it an important base for training national and provincial emergency management professionals and high-level emergency management talents, an important platform for emergency management discipline construction and scientific research, and an important exchange platform for emergency management education and research at home and abroad.

Ma Rupei said in his speech that Jinan University will work closely with the Guangdong Provincial Government Emergency Office, integrate the teaching and research resources of the whole school, strengthen the theoretical research of emergency management, continuously accumulate outstanding scientific research results, and provide much-needed decision support for the government. The School of Emergency Management will actively participate in international cooperation in running schools and international academic exchanges, and strengthen communication and docking with famous foreign academic institutions and experts in terms of institution building, academic exchanges, personnel training and teacher team building.

In his speech, Li Ronggen pointed out that the establishment of Jinan University's first emergency management college in China will certainly provide strong theoretical guidance, emergency technology and talent support for Guangdong's emergency management, and will certainly push Guangdong's emergency management to a new level. It is hoped that Jinan University will adhere to the fine tradition, make full use of its strong school-running strength and rich domestic and foreign resources, persist in integrating theory with practice, apply what it has learned, and strive to build the college into a research base for the application of emergency theory and technology and an education base for the training of emergency management talents.

In his speech, Wang Shouxing hoped that the School of Emergency Management would closely combine the reality of emergency management in China, strive to form a first-class emergency management discipline system, promote the integration of emergency management in Industry-University-Research, and build the School of Emergency Management of Jinan University into a high-level and distinctive college based in Guangdong, serving the whole country and facing the world.

It is understood that Guangdong is one of the provinces suffering from the most kinds of natural disasters in China, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. Once the emergency information is not handled properly, it will have a great negative impact in Hong Kong, Macao and even the world. Therefore, the unique geographical location puts forward higher requirements for Guangdong to deal with emergencies. In recent years, Guangdong has accumulated rich experience in emergency management in response to SARS, freezing rain and snow disasters in the south and earthquake relief, and has taken the lead in establishing a relatively advanced emergency management system in China. Therefore, since 2007, with the support and care of the Provincial Emergency Office, our school, with the approval of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, has actively set up an emergency management college. At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Education officially approved our school to set up the first emergency management undergraduate major in China. Prior to this, 99 undergraduate students in administrative management (emergency management direction) recruited by our school for high school graduates in the province have successfully enrolled.

20 10 the emergency management major of our school has enrolled students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas for the first time this year.
