On the abbreviation of the last leaf preface
The film The Last Leaf is based on O Henry's short story. When the last leaf on a dying vine fell out of the window, a little girl decided that she would die, because the lingering pneumonia slowly took away her will to live. Art carney, her neighbor, is an elderly artist. He is frustrated because he can't describe his inner feelings. In order to save the young girl, he created a masterpiece that he has been trying to draw. A beautiful and touching story. This excellent short film is my favorite adaptation of O 'Henry's short stories. Art carney did a good job, although his role in this version is French, not German in the book. Generally speaking, this film is a wonderful adaptation of the film. Just like this book, it really touched the hearts of the audience.
