Minzu University of China is a comprehensive key university directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and it is the only state-level institution of higher learning in China that entered the national "21KLOC-0/Project" and "985 Project". It plays a very important role in China's higher education system and the cause of national unity and progress.

Minzu University of China is located in Zhongguancun South Street, Haidian District, where there are many universities in Beijing. It is a national key university to train outstanding talents in ethnic minorities and ethnic areas.

Beijing University for Nationalities, referred to as "Beimin University"; Founded in 1984, the school is a full-time private non-academic higher education institution approved by Beijing Municipal Education Commission. On July 3, 20 18, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission issued a notice that Beijing University for Nationalities was ordered to stop enrolling students because of false enrollment propaganda and other problems.
