In universities, administrative work is an important part of the overall work of the school. With the continuous development of EQ, people have a new understanding and higher requirements for EQ, and EQ has become more and more important in the management of colleges and universities. Based on the characteristics of administrative work in colleges and universities, this paper analyzes five characteristics that distinguish administrative work in colleges and universities from other administrative work, namely, different clients, different work flexibility, different work stability, different work continuity and different work sustainability, and then analyzes three aspects of "emotional intelligence" embodied in administrative work in colleges and universities and how to make it serve administrative work.

The administrative management system is an organizational system. It is an important subsystem of social system. With the development of society, the objects of administrative management are increasingly extensive, including economic construction, cultural education, municipal construction, social order, public health and environmental protection. Modern administrative management uses the ideas and methods of system engineering to reduce the expenditure and waste of manpower, material resources, financial resources and time, and improve the effect and efficiency of administrative management.
