Soft test is the technical qualification (level) test of computer technology and software, and it is the improvement and development of the original computer software technical qualification and level test (referred to as software test) in China. The computer software qualification examination is a national examination led by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Its purpose is to scientifically and fairly test the professional qualifications, professional technical qualifications and professional technical level of computer and software professionals in China. The Education Examination Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is responsible for the national examination management. Except Taiwan Province Province, all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, cities under separate state planning, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region have set up examination management institutions to be responsible for organizing and implementing examinations in their respective regions.

The computer software qualification examination has 27 professional qualifications, covering 5 professional fields and 3 grades (elementary, intermediate and advanced). Computer software qualification examination has been implemented nationwide for more than twenty years. Because of its authority and seriousness, the examination has been widely recognized by all walks of life and employers, and has played an important role in promoting the development of national information industry, especially software and service industry, and improving the quality and ability of all kinds of information technology talents.
