At 1950, Liang Sicheng and Lin studied the national emblem scheme. At that time, the design task of the national emblem mainly fell on the head of the Construction Department of Tsinghua University. As the founder of the Construction Department, Liang Sicheng naturally served as the design team leader. Due to the tight time and heavy responsibility, Liang Sicheng, his wife Lin and team members repeatedly studied the design day and night. Liang Sicheng then fell ill and kept working on his deathbed.

After months of intense work, they finally came up with 23 design schemes. Later, Liang Sicheng and Lin did not attend the selection meeting due to illness, but in the end, everyone recognized and confirmed their design of the national emblem.

Liang Sicheng is a famous architect in China and even in the world. Is the eldest son of Liang Qichao, a famous scholar in modern times. 1901April was born in Tokyo, Japan, and studied in Tokyo Overseas Chinese School. Urged by his father's education, he has laid a good cultural foundation in China since he was a child. From 65438 to 0946, Liang Sicheng returned to his alma mater and founded the Department of Architecture in Tsinghua University, where he served as the department head until his death from 65438 to 0972.

Before liberation, he was an academician of academia sinica. After liberation, he was an academician of China Academy of Sciences and the first batch of academicians of China Academy of Sciences. He has written Examples of Qing-style Architecture, Architectural History of China, Annotations on Architectural Styles and Collected Works of Liang Sicheng (4 volumes), and participated in the design of People of China, National Emblem, Monument to People's Heroes, etc.
