The Guangzhou campus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is public.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), referred to as HKUST (Guangzhou) for short, is a cooperative educational institution with independent legal personality jointly established by Guangzhou University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with the approval of the people of China and the Ministry of Education.

20 18 12 2 1, HKUST signed a tripartite agreement with Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and Guangzhou University to jointly build HKUST (Guangzhou); On September 1 day, 2022, the school officially opened.

As of September 2022, the school covers an area of about 1669 mu, and the project is constructed in two phases. The first phase covers an area of about 7 1.6 mu, and the second phase covers an area of about 953 mu. Set up four hubs, covering 15 academic fields (master's and doctoral majors).

Environmental Experiment Center, Geotechnical Engineering Centrifuge Experiment Center, Material Characterization and Preparation Center (Qingshui Bay), Nanosystem Manufacturing Experiment Center (Qingshui Bay), Ocean Research Facility Experiment Center, Data Center (Qingshui Bay) and Earth and Environment System Center Laboratory.
