Jinan University is the first overseas Chinese university founded by the government in China. The word "Jin 'an" comes from Shangshu Gong Yu: "The east is gradually in the sea, the west is in quicksand, and the south is combined, which teaches the world." Engineering, chemistry, clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, materials science, biology and biochemistry, agricultural science, environmental science/ecology, botany and zoology, molecular biology and genetics, social science, neuroscience and behavior 12 have entered the top of ESI world rankings 1%. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, our school ranked 30 first-class disciplines, ranking third in the number of universities in the province, among which journalism and communication got A- and applied economics, China language and literature, biology and business administration got B+.
