Imperial College, founded in Han Dynasty, is an ancient university in China.

During the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Dong Zhongshu put forward the suggestion of "I hope your majesty will rejuvenate the country and the prison, and establish a master to support the people of the world" in "Three Strategies for Heaven and Man". Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty accepted this proposal and established imperial academy in Chang 'an in the fifth year of Yuanshuo (BC 124). At that time, imperial academy taught as a doctor. Dr. Wu Jing was originally established to teach Confucian classics such as poetry, calligraphy, ceremony, Yi, Spring and Autumn Period. During the reign of Xuan Di, the number of doctors increased to 12. When imperial academy was first established, there were only 50 people, which increased to 100 in the reign of Emperor Zhao of Han Dynasty and to 1 10,000 in the reign of Wang Mang. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty not only established imperial academy, but also ordered all counties and states to set up school officials. Since then, the local education system has been initially established. Since then, there have been imperial academy systems in all previous dynasties, but with different names. Some are called Guozixue, and some are called imperial academy, but they are the highest institutions that teach Confucian classics, which not only cultivate a large number of ruling talents, but also play an important role in spreading culture.
