The Department of Mathematical Sciences in Tsinghua University has a long history. Its predecessor was the Department of Mathematics of Tsinghua University, which was founded in 1927, the former Department of Computational Mathematics of Engineering Mechanics, and the restored Department of Applied Mathematics in 1979. The Physics Department of Tsinghua University is located in the Science Building (Meng Minwei Science Museum) in the northwest corner of the beautiful Tsinghua campus, surrounded by historical sites, and adjacent to the Mathematics Department, Chemistry Department and Biology Department of Tsinghua University.
