Yunnan University, founded in 1922, is a private Donglu University. 1930, changed to provincial Donglu University. 1934 was renamed Yunnan University. 1938 changed to National Yunnan University. 1946, Encyclopedia Britannica listed Yunnan University as one of the most influential universities in the world in 15.

1950 was named Yunnan University. From 65438 to 0958, Yunnan University was placed under the management of Yunnan Province by the Central Ministry of Higher Education.
