After graduating from South-Central University for Nationalities in 2008, Deng Li worked as a counselor in Wuhan Peng Hong Vocational School.
In 2009, he quit his job as a college counselor, chose to return to his hometown to teach, and took the initiative to apply for transfer from Feng Ba Ethnic School with good conditions to Gaoyuan Primary School in Zhongying Township with harsh natural environment and difficult living conditions.
On June 28th, 20 12, Deng Li was commended by Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture Committee as "party member". On September 8th, 20 12, she was awarded the title of "the most beautiful rural teacher" in China.
