Southwest University for Nationalities is a university. In recent years, in addition to Beijing, a number of undergraduates have been recruited, and only Beijing has recruited two batches of undergraduates.

Southwest University for Nationalities, located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, is a comprehensive university for nationalities directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and the Chengdu Municipal People's Government. This school is one of the earliest ethnic colleges established in New China under the personal care of proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping and Wang Weizhou.

Southwest University for Nationalities was founded in July 1950, formally established in June 195 1, renamed Southwest University for Nationalities in April 2003, and approved by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education in March 20 15.
