Suggestions on offering remedial classes for college students during holidays
Wen Zhenni

I am a junior. During the two summers of my freshman and sophomore year, I started my own cram school at home.

The cram school is not big. The first time there were about seven or eight such children, and the second time there were only three or four, but it was enough to teach me.

The original intention of offering cram school is because my family still has a younger brother who is in the fifth and sixth grade of primary school, so I think it is better to help him with other students in the village.

I have something to say about offering remedial classes.

You should have enough energy.

You need to arrange the class time every day. For example, I have two classes a day, 8: 30 am-11:00 am, and then I have a rest for half an hour. I'll help them with their homework during recess, so it's no problem to let them move freely.

The first half is used to teach primary schools, and the second half is used to teach junior high schools. Because primary schools basically have three or four classes together, and junior high schools have individual classes, I will use the second half of the class to give them one-on-one counseling, and sometimes I will give them extra classes if I don't have enough time. Because there are no classes in the afternoon and weekend according to my arrangement, I will arrange make-up classes at this time.

Of course, there is no increase in fees.

This is the arrangement for the first class.

The second tutorial is basically a cohesive class, and the whole class is cohesive, so the teaching is less laborious and more unified. At first, the textbooks were unified, and then teaching was carried out according to the textbooks, and some test questions were found for them to write papers for.

How much time will you spend correcting their homework after class, and some questions and materials that need to be prepared when assigning homework. This is necessary. I taught myself through some online resources, bought some teaching materials and referred to some teaching AIDS in previous classes. Although it is a long time ago, some knowledge points of the senior high school entrance examination are still very targeted. I mainly aim at junior high school students and children of grade five or six in primary school, so I do some English cohesion and English teaching for them on a large scale, as well as the sprint and writing guidance for the senior high school entrance examination.

You should be patient enough.

Patience goes without saying, if you don't have enough patience, you can't do anything, let alone run a cram school. Everything needs patience.

You should teach these students patiently, and then when they can't, you should also teach them patiently and thoroughly, because after all, children in rural areas have less contact with English, so I must try my best to teach them well.

You should be prepared to quarrel with your parents.

Some parents will haggle over tuition funds, while others will haggle over themselves. Take your children wherever they go to play, and push your courses away; Some parents will tell you that children don't come because they don't want to come to school; What's more, it will default on your tuition! !

At this time, you should be prepared to talk to them. Of course, you can't talk to them with that condescending attitude, because after all, you earn other people's money, so you must put facts and make sense, right? Therefore, it is inevitable to argue with each other, especially with middle-aged women in their thirties and forties. Their ability to argue and bargain is beyond my ability as a college student in my early twenties.

You should make up your mind to fight with your children.

Children's minds are certainly not as mature as yours. As a teacher to teach them, you should be more mature than them, and don't haggle with them. Sometimes you have to fight with their so-called wits because you have to analyze some of their behaviors, and you can't keep suppressing them.

In terms of grades, we can't just look at grades. Of course, sometimes we should praise and sometimes we should criticize. This is for sure, and it is in a small group. Learning atmosphere is also very important. You should encourage those who know to teach those who can't, and also encourage those who can't to get close to those who know how to learn, so that the whole atmosphere will be better.

You should inquire about this industry.

Well, this thing is a trade secret. I certainly can't tell you too much, but what I want to tell you is that before you start a cram school, you need to know about the people around you who start cram schools, their charging standards, their time schedule and how they tutor their children. You should know this so that your parents won't compare you with others. Then you know nothing. You should highlight your strengths and hide your weaknesses as much as possible. This is one of the purposes.

Secondly, after you know this, you can better analyze your own time planning and your own advantages and disadvantages. Then list the objections you can give them, and your registration will be smoother. Another is the cost. You should consider the difference between rural families and urban families, the difference between one-on-one tutoring and one-to-many tutoring, and you can't keep your price down because of some people. You can't just say that I have asked you for a tutorial, or that we have known each other for a long time, and then the price you gave him was different from that you gave others. This is absolutely not allowed.

Finally, you should invest money and a fixed venue first.

My reserve fund comes from my old man, who especially encourages me to do what I want to do. I mentioned it to him at that time, and he told me why you didn't say so earlier. If you had said earlier, you would have recruited more students.

But later, without saying anything, he arranged some things for me, including making room on the second floor available for my cram school, including spending nearly a day with me to buy those desks and chairs and blackboards, including when I need to buy some textbooks and other materials during the cram school, he will try his best to support me.

It was my dad who gave and contributed, yes!

These are some of my little experiences in running cram schools. I hope I can give some help to those who want to run cram schools. Of course, the most important thing is that you stick to it and don't knock you down because of a little difficulty.

If you really want to do it, stick to it. How do you know you can't do it without trying?

There is a saying that a river can't be formed without a small stream.

You have to believe in the power of persistence, and you have to believe that water droplets really have the ability to penetrate stones.
