Dongguk university is a first-class school in Korea. Dongguk University (English: Dong Guk University) is the abbreviation of Dongda or DGU, which means the country of the East. Dongguk university was founded in 1906 with a history of one hundred years. Its predecessor is Jin Ming School, which aims at "saving the country through education". Dongguk university achieved all-round rapid development after the Korean recovery in 1945, and now there are 13 college and1/graduate school. Among them, humanities and arts have always been in the forefront of Korean universities, especially the drama and film department and the graduate school of imaging, which are famous for news media, performing arts and cultural circles. At present, the department is one of the highest research institutions of drama performance and film and television art in Korea.

The school has more than 20,000 undergraduates, doctoral students 1000 and 2,600 full-time professors. It has four campuses in Seoul, Levin, Gyeongju (branch school) and Los Angeles (branch school), as well as several hospitals. Seoul Campus is located near nanshan park, the special downtown area of Seoul, South Korea, overlooking the whole city of Seoul.

Dongguk university also has the most advanced film and television teaching and production center in Korea-Chungwdo Video Center, and its business school has obtained AACSB certification. In terms of disciplines, humanities, film and television, performance, international trade and management are the dominant disciplines, ranking among the top universities in Korea.
