The school has always been based on Qinghai, facing ethnic areas, keeping in mind the purpose of running schools for ethnic minorities and ethnic areas, adhering to the orientation of running schools for ethnic colleges, and cultivating more than 20,000 ethnic talents from and serving ethnic areas11.20, of which more than 50,000 graduates work in Qinghai and more than 8000 work in Tibet and Xinjiang. A group of outstanding students represented by Sonam Dajie, 53 leading cadres at provincial and ministerial levels, 1. 300 bureau-level cadres, 1. 20 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, and more than 600 senior professional and technical personnel have made contributions to the establishment and consolidation of the new people's political power, and to the democratic reform, national unity, economic development, social stability, ecological protection and various reform and development undertakings in Qinghai. * * * There are 1662 1 Han, Tibetan, Hui, Tu, Salar and Mongolian students in 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

The school attaches great importance to the construction of first-class disciplines and first-class majors. Humanities and social sciences have always had an advantageous position in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the construction of science and engineering disciplines such as new energy, new materials, salt lake chemical industry and Tibetan medicine, which are connected with Qinghai's characteristic advantageous industries and pillar industries, has formed scale and characteristics. There are 23 colleges (including Qinghai Cadre Network College) with national first-class construction discipline of ethnology and provincial first-class construction discipline of language and literature in China, with 1 for doctoral degree, 17 for master's degree, 16 for professional master's degree and 59 for undergraduate majors, forming a relatively complete undergraduate, master's and doctoral education personnel training. The disciplines cover eleven categories, such as literature, science, law, economics, management, teaching, history, medicine, engineering, philosophy and art, among which there are 33 undergraduate majors in humanities and social sciences, accounting for 55.93%, and 26 undergraduate majors in science, engineering and medicine, accounting for 44.07%, forming a relatively comprehensive structural layout of literature, science and engineering disciplines.
