Shihezi covers an area of 460 square kilometers, which is 150 kilometers east of Urumqi, the capital of the autonomous region, and has 2 1 1 of Shihezi University, one of the two universities in Xinjiang. Shihezi City is the seat of the Eighth Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, located in the northern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Shihezi Reclamation Area is located in the middle of the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain, the southern edge of Gurbantunggut Desert and the southern edge of Junggar Basin, with geographical coordinates of 84'58"-86'24 "east longitude and 43'26"-45'20" north latitude. East of Manas River, adjacent to Manas County. Shawan County is surrounded by the south, west and north. The urban area is 0/50km east of Urumqi/Kloc, the capital of the autonomous region, and 500km west of Horgos Port. Shihezi used to be the headquarters of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and later moved to Urumqi. Shihezi, a new type of military reclamation city, which is based on farms, led by industry, combined with workers and peasants, urban and rural areas, and integrated with agriculture, industry and commerce, is known as the "Pearl of Gobi". From June 2065438 to June 2007, Shihezi was named as a national health city. In the same year, Shihezi decided to keep the honorary title of national civilized city.
