Inner Mongolia University is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The school was founded on 1957. In March, 2000, Hohhot Jiaotong School was merged into Inner Mongolia University to form Inner Mongolia University Vocational and Technical College. In March 2005, Inner Mongolia Agricultural School was merged into Inner Mongolia University.
By the end of 2022, Inner Mongolia University ranked 1 19 in China University of Soft Science in 2022.
