Xiamen University has a long history of journalism education. 1922, Xiamen University began its early journalism education, which was the first time for China people to run journalism education. The Department of Journalism and Communication was founded in 1983, and it was first named "Communication" in Chinese mainland, which embodies the pioneering spirit of news communicators in Xiamen University. In 2007, the School of Journalism and Communication was established, and the journalism and communication education of Xiamen University entered a new period of rapid development. In order to build a first-class modern journalism and communication college facing the ocean and Asia, and for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, senior journalism and communication talents based in China and with international vision are being trained.

1983 The Department of Journalism and Communication of Xiamen University was established. In the name of "Communication", the first major of advertising and international journalism in Chinese mainland was established.
