Male, Han nationality, party member, born in June, 1956, a native of Shuangfeng County, Hunan Province, with a postgraduate degree and a doctorate, is currently an academician of China Academy of Engineering, president, professor and doctoral supervisor of Sichuan University. Alternate member of the 17th Central Committee of China Producers' Party.

Academician Xie Heping served as the assistant to the president of China University of Mining and Technology from March 65438 to February 993. 1February 1993 to1March 1995 served as vice president of China University of Mining and Technology; 1March 1995 to1June 1997 served as vice president of China university of mining and technology and director of Beijing graduate department; 1June 1997 10 to August 1998 1998 served as the director of the science, technology and education department of the former Ministry of Coal Industry; 65438+1From August 1998 to June 2003, he served as President of China University of Mining and Technology and President of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing Campus); Since June 2003, he has served as the president of Sichuan University.

Academician Xie Heping is a member of the discipline evaluation team of the State Council, the chairman of the National Scholarship Evaluation Committee, the chairman of Sichuan Science and Technology Association, the vice chairman of China Rock Mechanics and Engineering Society, the vice chairman of China Coal Industry Association, the vice chairman of the second National Master of Engineering Education Steering Committee, and the editor-in-chief or editor-in-chief of more than 0/0 scientific journals such as Journal of Mechanics and Journal of Geotechnical Engineering.

Academician Xie Heping has devoted himself to the research and practice of rock mechanics and engineering for a long time. In the early 1980s, he first established a macroscopic damage mechanics model of fractured rock mass in China, studied its natural characteristics and the mechanism and process leading to catastrophic accidents, opened up a new field of damage mechanics of fractured rock mass, successfully predicted the damage, large deformation and creep stability process of surrounding rock during mining, and applied it to important engineering fields such as large deformation prediction of deep roadway, creep analysis and related roadway support design. From 65438 to 0985, he creatively introduced fractal method to study the discontinuous deformation, strength and fracture failure of fractured rock mass, forming a new direction of fractal research on discontinuous behavior of fractured rock mass, and successfully applied it to important mine engineering applications such as rockburst, surface subsidence and top coal crushing control, and achieved remarkable economic and social benefits.

Academician Xie Heping has been invited to give lectures and cooperate in research abroad for many times. 1990 to 199 1,1was hired as a visiting professor by the University of Utah in the United States, and officially opened two courses for the school. June1992-August 1993, employed as a visiting researcher of the Royal Society and a visiting professor of Southampton University. 1994 and 1996 were invited as visiting professors to give lectures at hanover university in Germany. 1993, 1997 and 1999 were invited as visiting professors to give lectures and cooperate in research at Silesia University of Technology in Poland.

Academician Xie Heping's achievements are embodied in his three Chinese and English monographs, more than 200 papers and related engineering practices, such as Damage Mechanics of Rock Concrete and Fractal in Rock Mechanics. The results were included in 48 articles by SCI, cited more than 500 times, included in 78 articles by EI and cited by CSTPC for 546 times. Its scientific research achievements won the third prize of 1995 National Natural Science Award, the third prize of 1999 National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2000 and the second prize of National Natural Science Award in 2007, and won five provincial and ministerial second prizes successively (all the first winners). He has trained nearly 30 doctors and postdocs.

Academician Xie Heping won many academic awards and honorary titles, and 1990 was awarded the title of "model of outstanding young intellectuals in coal system". 199 1 was awarded the title of "Doctor with Outstanding Contribution in China" by the State Council and the State Education Commission, and was approved to enjoy special government allowance by the State Council in the same year; 1992 was awarded the "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding National Contributions" and "China Youth Science and Technology Award" in the same year; 1993 won the first "China Young Scientist Award (Technology Science)", one of the six winners in China, and won the "Fok Ying Tung Outstanding Young Teacher Award (Research Class)"; 1994 became the first batch of experts funded by the "special fund for cross-century talents" of the State Education Commission; 1995 became the first batch of experts supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; 1996 entered the first and second levels of the "100 million talents project" of seven national ministries and commissions; 1997 became the first-class training object of "333 Cross-century Project" in Jiangsu Province, and was awarded the title of "Excellent Returned Overseas Students" by the Ministry of Personnel and the State Education Commission. 200 1 won the solar Qi Yue energy prize, and was named an academician of China Academy of Engineering in the same year. In 2002, he became the chief scientist of the National 973 Project; In 2003, he became the chief scientist of the Innovation Research Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; In 2004, he won the He Liang Heli Science and Technology Progress Award; In 2007, he received an honorary doctorate from Kloster University of Technology in Germany, becoming the fifth person to receive this honor in the 232 years since the school was founded.
