China Geo University originated from 1952, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Geology, and was formed by the merger of the Department of Geography of Peking University and the Department of Geological Engineering of Tsinghua University and Tianjin University. 1960 was identified as a national key university by the central government. Moved out during the Cultural Revolution. 1975 moved to Wuhan as a whole and was renamed Wuhan Institute of Geology. 1987, the State Education Commission approved the renaming of Wuhan Institute of Geology as China University of Geology.
After Beijing Institute of Geology moved south, the former Beijing Institute of Geology only set up a rear office. 1978-65438+In February, "Wuhan Institute of Geology Beijing graduate department" was established in the logistics department of the former Beijing Institute of Geology, the predecessor of China University of Geology (Beijing).
