Fudan University has 30 directly affiliated hospitals (departments) and 70 undergraduate majors.

Fudan University, referred to as Fudan for short, was founded in 1905, formerly known as Fudan College. It is the first institution of higher learning independently established by China people. Its founder is Ma, a famous educator in modern China, and its first chairman is Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the country. The word "Fudan" is selected from the famous sentence "The sun and the moon compete for brilliance, and Fudan is thriving" in the Biography of Yu Xia, which means "constantly striving for self-improvement and rejuvenating China", and entrusted the China intellectuals' desire to run schools independently and educate a strong country at that time.
