The political review is mainly conducted by the political review team, including military recruiting cadres, military cadres, relevant personnel of police stations, and relevant personnel of streets and communities (village committees, schools, and units). The steps of political review are very simple. Generally, it is to look at the file, investigate the political inclination and past behavior of myself and my relatives, and investigate overseas relations and criminal records. If there is a problem, it will be eliminated. Qualified personnel will arrange interviews, usually more than twice. For the first time, look at my quality first, that is, see if there is any problem with my ability to speak and do things, my intelligence level and my political inclination. Sometimes at the same time as the physical examination.

Legal basis: Article 3 of the Military Service Law of People's Republic of China (PRC): China people and China citizens, regardless of nationality, race, occupation, family background, religious belief and education level, have the obligation to perform military service in accordance with the provisions of this law.

People who are unfit for military service with serious physical defects or serious disabilities are exempted from military service.

People deprived of political rights according to law may not perform military service.
