Changzhou University is a provincial full-time undergraduate college planned and built by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, China Petroleum and Natural Gas Group Co., Ltd., China Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. and China Offshore Oil Group Co., Ltd., with Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and Changzhou Municipal People's Government. It is a national demonstration university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education and the first batch of innovation and entrepreneurship practice education centers for college students in Jiangsu Province. The school is located in Changzhou, with Party Secretary Chen Qun and President Xu Shoukun.

As of September 2022, the school has two campuses, Science and Education City and west taihu lake. The campus covers an area of more than 2,000 mu and has 26 colleges. At the same time, the Institute of Continuing Education (Li Gongpu Institute of Social Education) and Huaide College (independent college) of Changzhou University were established.
