Tibet University for Nationalities is located in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. It is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Xizang Autonomous Region and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, a key university in the central and western regions of the country, a national education base for national unity and progress, and a pilot unit of the excellent talent training program of the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry of Education provides team-based counterpart assistance to colleges and universities, the second batch of demonstration colleges and universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the first batch of excellent pilot units of educational informatization by the Ministry of Education, national model greening units, national civilized campuses, and autonomous region network ideological and political work centers (shift centers).
