At present, there are 9/kloc-0 faculty members, including 2 academicians of China Academy of Sciences (invited), 5 professors/kloc-0 (including 7 doctoral supervisors), 26 associate professors, 24 teachers with doctoral degrees (including 5 postdoctoral doctors and 2 doctors returning from overseas) and 39 teachers with master's degrees. It is one of the most optimized colleges in Guangzhou University. There are not only Professor Pei, a famous expert in number theory and information security in China, but also Professor Yu Jianshe, a first-and second-class candidate of the National "Millions of Talents Project", and Professor Cao Guangfu, the first batch of 100 famous universities in China. In May, 2006, the School of Mathematics and Information Science was awarded as an advanced collective in Guangzhou.
