Southeast University, referred to as Dongda for short, is located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province. It is a national key university directly under the central government and the Ministry of Education, a well-known old eight schools in architecture, and one of the original four engineering colleges. It is one of the key universities of "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project". The school has Sipailou, Jiulong Lake, Dingjiaqiao and other campuses, covering an area of 5,888 mu. The school also has Wuxi branch and Suzhou campus.

The development of history

Southeast University is a university with a long history and deep foundation. Founded in 1902 Sanjiang Normal School, the school has experienced important development periods such as Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University and National Central University.

During the period of 1952, the departments of colleges and universities in China were adjusted and the departments of arts and sciences moved out. The former National Central University School of Engineering was merged into Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Jinling University, and Nanjing Institute of Technology was established in the original site of the National Central University. In May 1988, the school was renamed Southeast University.

In April 2000, the former Southeast University, Nanjing Railway Medical College and Nanjing Jiaotong University merged, and Nanjing Geological School merged to form a new Southeast University.
