Since the reform and opening up, the relaxed political environment, the improvement of economic level and the change of values have made people's beliefs diversified. The coexistence of various economic components and different values determines the alienation of people's ideology. The unhealthy trend in the production party, the corruption in the primary socialist society, the improper employment of units, the unfair social distribution and the widening gap between the rich and the poor all make young people doubt their belief in production. The lack of political belief leads many people to turn to religious belief, and college students are no exception.
Young people's thoughts are not fixed, their emotions are impetuous and changeable, they pursue fresh excitement, and they often have anti-traditional rebellious psychology and strong sense of independence. Faced with different cultural backgrounds and various value choices, college students feel at a loss, suspicious and confused, and at the same time, their novelty and novelty psychology make some young students turn to religion.
In the process of establishing a market economy system, young people bear more risks and pressures from study, work and life. Difficulties in learning, bitterness and hardship in life, unsatisfactory work or unemployment of family members, individuals and relatives and friends, etc. Will lead young people to seek spiritual comfort and relief in the face of setbacks and confusion in life. With the development of social economy, the emotional communication between people is becoming more and more indifferent, so the close and friendly relationship between members of religious organizations is full of affinity and temptation without utilitarian mutual concern and sincere help. Most young college students are in a weak position in society. The mutual help between the church and its members makes them feel that God is their last backer. Believing in religion satisfies believers' sense of belonging and makes them feel gratified and satisfied spiritually. They are no longer isolated, but "people in the organization".
Of course, some college students grew up in religious clans, and some people went to religion with the help of religious people in difficulties.
The religious fanaticism of contemporary college students reflects the loss of some young people's beliefs and embodies many misunderstandings:
First, the attraction of religious morality and the unique charm of culture. In particular, the pursuit of perfect religious morality is one of its most confusing and attractive places. Almost all the three religions contain some moral precepts: no stealing, no adultery, no killing, no greed for money, no robbery, no lying, equal love for others, punishing evil and promoting good. Therefore, a considerable number of college students believe that these religious ethics are not contradictory to socialist ethics, and their binding force even exceeds the role of socialist ethics. In today's materialistic market economy society, it is particularly necessary to educate these religious morals.
The World Bank published a report two years ago to the effect that financial crimes are less likely to occur in places of faith, because people don't commit crimes because they are not afraid of the law. In fact, no matter how perfect the law is, it can't stop deliberate violations. People who don't commit crimes are self-discipline and self-condemnation of morality and law, and they are afraid of God's punishment. Buddhism's theory of reincarnation, Christianity's heaven and hell, these commandments have unique positive significance in making people abandon evil and do good, restraining evil forces, stabilizing social order and purifying social air.
Second, the vague understanding of freedom of belief. The constitution gives citizens the right to freedom of belief. If the law does not prohibit them, they are innocent. Why do people accuse and interfere with legal things?
Third, the understanding of scientists' religious beliefs. Many great scientists seem to accept the concept of God, and some scientists believe in religion. So many college students think that science and religious belief are incompatible.
Below, the above erroneous views are discriminated:
For the first point, we must first analyze the relationship between religion and social order. Historically, religion has served the ruling class in power most of the time, and it represents the interests of the ruling class. Gods, gods and gods are all fictitious, but the objective content it reflects is the value relationship of social reality. God, gods and gods only exist as body double of social interests, but the interests of the ruling class occupy a large proportion. Terms such as "religious fanaticism, religious riots, religious persecution and religious wars" all represent the negative image of religion.
On the second point, the Constitution does give citizens the right to freedom of belief, but as college students, they should first believe in science and pursue truth. Science is knowledge about the relationship between facts. Its essence is to systematically link various social laws and natural laws in a rigorous and precise logical form, and make them theoretical, realistic and visual. In essence, religion and superstition both worship supernatural forces, are idealism, oppose practical experiments, and require people to worship religion blindly. The essence is to reflect the objective and true natural laws and social laws in subjective and false forms.
For the third point, we should make clear the difference between science and religion. First of all, science is materialistic and religion is idealistic. The scientific concept starts from the real experience object (objectivity) and abandons all mysticism. Mysticism leads us to stop pursuing some basic concepts. Anyway, just give it to an almighty Lord, and the rest is none of our business. Science begins with human practice and observation, and establishes a system about a certain classified discipline. Science requires providing hypotheses and explanations and establishing a system based on correct logic.
In addition, the most important difference between science and religion and mysticism is that science has nothing to do with value in general. The basic belief of religion is a belief about value, which easily leads to deviation from objectivity in understanding.
Fundamentally speaking, science and religion are antagonistic and irreconcilable. Since the birth of science, God has died. But in the minds of some western scientists, science and value are really separated, with both religious world outlook and scientific system. In our world, everyone has to solve the problem of values. Values are influenced by culture, so it is not surprising that religion affects scientists' beliefs. In addition, scientists' understanding is also problematic. Due to the constraints of subjective and objective conditions, some scientists can't explain the unknown areas that they can't understand for the time being, and may believe in supernatural forces, which will often be attributed to "God" in the end.
However, historically, any major achievements made by science in every field mean the discovery of natural laws and the denial of supernatural forces in this field, which means the elimination of mysterious functions and ignorant influences in this field.
In view of college students' religious beliefs, colleges and universities should constantly strengthen the education of their ideals and beliefs so that they can gradually establish a scientific world outlook, values and outlook on life. 1. We should strengthen the education of Marxist materialism, atheism and scientific spirit. 2. Strengthen the construction of campus culture and run the education of ideals and beliefs through campus cultural activities. 3. Strengthen students' humanistic quality education, and constantly improve the overall level of ideal and belief education. 4. Strengthen mental health education to help students improve their mental health and enhance their ability to resist setbacks and adapt to social life.
Of course, the religious issue is a very complicated and profound issue, which cannot be clearly stated in a few words. In the adult world, including politicians, scientists, sociologists and art fields, there are different views on religious issues, not to mention college students who are not deeply involved in the world. In terms of quantity, there may be fewer atheists than theists in the world. Therefore, it is unconvincing to rely on empty preaching for college students' misunderstanding of religion. For this, even school education alone cannot fundamentally solve the problem, and it needs to be improved in the whole social and political environment.
