China West Normal University is a key university in Sichuan Province. The school was founded in 1946, and its predecessor was War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's National Northeastern University. At the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved to Santai County, Sichuan Province. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved back to Shenyang. With the support of Shiyanchang in 36 counties in northern Sichuan and people of insight from all walks of life, some Sichuan teachers and students of Northeastern University established a private North Sichuan Agricultural and Industrial College in Santai. 1949 Private North Sichuan A&M University merged with Xishan College founded by Mr. Wu, a famous Mohist, to form private North Sichuan University. 1950, the school moved to Nanchong and merged with North Sichuan College of Literature to form a public North Sichuan University. 1952 The school merged some majors of East Sichuan Institute of Education (College of Rural Construction), Sichuan University and West China University to form Sichuan Normal University. 1956 The school is divided into two parts, and the part that stays in Nanchong is Nanchong Teachers College. 1958 The school was upgraded to Nanchong Teachers College. 1989, the school resumed the name of "Sichuan Normal University". In 2003, the school was renamed "West China Normal University". After more than 70 years of development, the school has accumulated and formed the school motto of "diligence, pragmatism, dedication and innovation", the educational concept of "building a soul and inspiring people", the school-running concept of "strengthening the school with quality, strengthening the school with talents and establishing a school with characteristics" and the campus spirit of "strictly administering the school, rigorously studying and working hard". At present, it has developed into a comprehensive university with complete disciplines, superior school conditions, strong teachers and fruitful teaching and scientific research results. It is a basic education teacher training base, an in-service teacher training base, and a research base for basic education and higher education in Sichuan Province. The school is a high-level comprehensive university with distinctive teacher education characteristics. There are 75 undergraduate majors, including literature, history, teaching, science, engineering, agriculture, management, economics, law and art 10. The strength and advantages of the school's disciplines are outstanding, and disciplines such as ecology, politics, China language and literature, chemistry, Marxist theory, education, astronomy and China history have important influence in China. Ecology and ecological governance, political science and social governance are included in the construction of first-class disciplines in Sichuan Province. The school began to recruit graduate students on 1979. There are national environmental protection science popularization bases, national off-campus practical education bases for college students, historical and cultural social science popularization bases in northern Sichuan, aviation model science popularization bases in northeastern Sichuan, and social practice bases for environmental education in primary and secondary schools in Sichuan Province. It has scientific research institutions for scientific transformation and social service, such as Sichuan Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Organizational Restoration Materials Engineering Technology, Provincial University Science Park and Ecological Research Institute, institute for public policy and Rural Revitalization Strategy Development Research Institute.
