From the end of the last century to the present, with the arrival of the massive information age, popular culture has replaced elite culture as the mainstream of the market, and the reading objects are not only words, but also images, pictures and other things that are not included in traditional reading. It seems that we have entered the era of shallow reading. As the backbone of national construction in the future, what is the reading situation of contemporary college students in China? In order to understand the reading situation of college students, we conducted a survey of students in Vocational and Technical College of Yunnan University for Nationalities, found some problems, discussed the reasons and found some solutions. The specific investigation situation is hereby notified as follows.

In this study, 80 college students from Vocational and Technical College of Yunnan University for Nationalities were investigated. * * * 80 questionnaires were sent out and 76 valid questionnaires were recovered. The survey mainly focuses on college students' extracurricular reading, reading purpose and motivation, reading attitude, reading media, reading hobbies and so on.

Now, with the advent of the massive information age, popular culture has replaced elite culture and become the mainstream of the market. Search-based reading, title-based reading, leap-forward reading, online reading and mobile phone reading have become the main reading forms. Popular books, simplified versions of famous books and pocket books are very popular. Financial inspirational books use stock market language instead of academic reasoning, and popular books are among the top sellers in bookstores around the world. Multimedia, blogs and electronic novels have infiltrated college students instead of paper books. What is shallow reading? Why is there shallow reading? How to treat shallow reading?

First, what is shallow reading?

Shallow reading refers to a form of shallow reading with simplicity, relaxation and entertainment as the highest pursuit. Content, based on nonsense recreation, entertainment or sensory stimulation, is full of game spirit and absurd color; In terms of methods, animation, pictures and videos are the main ones, supplemented by words. Compared with traditional tea reading, this fast food culture pursues horizontal breadth, which is the so-called "fragmented language, patchwork content." Replacing "knowledge" with "knowledge", this fast-food, jumping and fragmented shallow reading is becoming a new reading trend for college students. To this end, we conducted a written questionnaire survey of college students to understand their ideological status and reading needs, so as to analyze the current situation of college students' quality and provide reference for further exploration and improvement of college students' quality.

Second, the survey results and analysis

1, reading awareness is generally high. The survey results show that 47.6% students think reading is an interesting thing, and 35.29% students think reading is more interesting. Only 17.65% and 1.96% students dislike reading very much. This shows that most students have a high awareness of the importance of reading.

2. Less reading time. Only 5.88% students read more than 3 hours a day, 54.90% students read 1-3 hours, 29.4 1% students read more than 1 hour, and 9.80% students hardly read.

3. The average monthly reading is less. Only 1.96% students read more than 5 books a month, 5.88% students read 3-5 books, and most students read 1-3 books a month on average, which shows that the reading volume of college students is very small.

4. From the reading orientation and reading interest, students' reading interest in our college is personalized and diversified, involving a wide range and diverse types. They often choose extracurricular books to read according to their personal interests. Fashion magazines, biographies and popular novels are the most important reading materials for Chinese college students' extracurricular reading interest, which is related to the characteristics and advantages of these books. In addition to intense and boring professional study, college students hope to read some high-quality leisure and entertainment books, which can also improve students' self-cultivation in all aspects. Among them, it is worth noting that the students in our college are not enthusiastic about reading famous books and classic books (only 28.4%). In addition, professional books such as economic management, English and computer courses have also become an important choice for students in our college.

5. The reading media of college students in our college are diversified, not limited to the traditional paper media. As a new media form, Internet has entered students' daily life, which constitutes an extremely important part of normal reading. About 30% students mainly read through the Internet. However, most students can properly control the time and content when using the Internet, and make rational use of network information resources to serve themselves. More than 70% of college students spend less than 2 hours online every day on average.

6. About 55.8% of college students in our college borrow books from the library as their main reading mode, and borrowing books from relatives and friends, browsing online and reading in bookstores are also important reading modes. However, it is worth noting that the students in our college are not enthusiastic about buying books, and only about 13% of them will buy books as their main reading method.

It can be seen that the reading style of students in our college has entered the era of shallow reading.

Third, the reasons for shallow reading.

1, "shallow reading" is a way to relieve boredom. Many people think reading "deep" books is boring and laborious, while reading "shallow" books is easy and interesting, and can also be used as a joke for small talk. 2, there is no time for "deep" reading, so we have to "shallow" reading. With the development of society, people's pressure is increasing, and the employment problem is also a big stone on college students. Many college students have made plans for themselves from the day they enter the university. They have to take several certificates, pass several levels of English and do a lot of part-time jobs. There seems to be no time to settle down and read some good books. It is a common psychological feeling of college students that the time and mood for reading famous books are getting less and less. Being troubled by employment, further education and going abroad, I have no intention to bury myself in reading "unnecessary" masterpieces, but only want to read "useful" English, computer and professional books. They feel that universities have lost the atmosphere of reading famous books.

Academic works and classics are puzzling and have to be abandoned. At present, there is a strong momentum for college students to get together to read novels. When we visited the university library, we found that many popular novels have been read very old, but many academic works are eighty percent new. Why are there so few people studying? College students lament that the textbooks used in class are boring enough, so how dare they touch more obscure academic works and classics?

There is no atmosphere of reading famous books in school. Now information is swarming, and fast food culture is popular. Everyone needs to collect the information they need quickly and pertinently, and can't calm down and read traditional classics while drinking afternoon tea. At present, the social demand for talents is professional and knowledgeable. Coupled with the globalization of the international economy, we have to make great efforts in foreign languages. Faced with the severe employment situation, many college students are busy preparing for various certificate exams to increase their competitiveness. Under the influence of a series of realistic factors, how can we have time to read "classics" with peace of mind?

Fourth, the harm brought by shallow reading.

Shallow reading is contempt and blasphemy for classic works, and the reading mode of shallow reading will lead to the passivation of readers' thinking; Shallow reading is not conducive to the cultivation of teenagers' personality; Shallow reading weakens readers' ability to use language.

5. How to get out of the predicament of shallow reading?

Relevant departments should investigate clearly why shops use typos as advertising signs. Many primary school students always think that the words on advertising signs are all right, so they write a lot of typos, which affects the standardization and accuracy of using words. I hope all the words I see in the future are correct, and there are no typos!
