Since Dong Xuefa became a public security patrol, he has fought to the death with criminals for 35 times, injured 16 times, captured more than criminals 100, including 22 suspects, and intercepted more than 500 stolen goods. He is affectionately called "community security" by community residents.
Dong Xuefa was awarded the title of National Excellent Young Migrant Workers and Beijing Good Citizen by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. At the end of 2006, as the only young migrant worker, he was named one of the top ten outstanding young people in Beijing. In March 2007, he was named one of the top ten public figures in the capital.
