2. Introduction of Tarim University
Tarim University, formerly known as Tarim Agricultural Reclamation University, is located in Aral City on the Tarim River in southern Xinjiang. 1958 was established under the advocacy and care of former vice president Wang Zhen, who served as honorary chairman for life, in order to meet the needs of national frontier defense and the development of Tarim reclamation area. The school is the first batch of undergraduate colleges with the right to award bachelor's degrees approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee. In 2003, he was granted the right to confer a master's degree. In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Tarim University. In 20 17, it became a "model university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform of the Ministry of Education". Originally a university directly under the Ministry of Agriculture, it is now affiliated to Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
In the course of running a school for nearly 60 years, the school has carried forward Nanniwan's fine tradition and anti-aggression style, formed an excellent school spirit of "hard work, national unity, seeking truth and being pragmatic, and inspiring self-improvement", cultivated the spirit of Populus euphratica with "hard work, rooting in the frontier, self-improvement and dedication" as its main connotation, and established the school-running concept of "developing the school with quality, developing the school with characteristics and strengthening the school with talents". The development idea of "writing articles about Tarim, creating regional advantages and building a comprehensive university" has been clarified, and the research characteristics of "biodiversity and cultural diversity around Tarim" have been formed, highlighting the distinctive school-running characteristics of "educating people with Populus euphratica spirit and serving Xinjiang's prosperity" and embarking on a distinctive, leap-forward and sustainable road of school revitalization and development.
The school has developed into a comprehensive university with the advantages of agriculture, science, engineering, literature, management, law, economics, teaching, art and history. The campus covers an area of 2,554 mu with a building area of 570,000 square meters. There are 765,438 full-time teachers, 434 professors and associate professors, and 648 doctoral and master teachers. Full-time students 13629, including ethnic minority students 3 1.2%, mainland students 4 1% and graduate students 374. The library has a collection of 6.5438+0.34 million volumes, and the edited and published Journal of Tarim University is publicly distributed at home and abroad.
The school has 1 1 colleges (College of Plant Science, College of Animal Science, College of Water Conservancy and Architectural Engineering, College of Mechanical Electrification Engineering, College of Humanities, school of economics and management, College of Life Sciences, College of Information Engineering, College of History and Philosophy, College of Continuing Education and Higher Vocational and Technical College) and 57 undergraduate majors (Agricultural Science 16, Four key disciplines (biology, horticulture, crop science and veterinary medicine) at autonomous region level, eight master's degree programs in first-class disciplines (crop science, horticulture, biology, agricultural engineering, animal husbandry, Marxist theory, chemical engineering and technology, agricultural and forestry economic management), and five professional master's degree programs (agronomy, veterinary medicine, journalism and communication, education, engineering). At present, it has 1 national scientific research platform ("National and local joint engineering laboratory for efficient and high-quality cultivation and deep processing technology of characteristic fruit trees in southern Xinjiang"), 1 national key laboratory cultivation base (key laboratory for protection and utilization of biological resources in Tarim basin-cultivation base established by national provincial departments) and six provincial key laboratories (Xinjiang Key Laboratory for Animal Husbandry Science and Technology, Southern Xinjiang Characteristic Fruit Tree Production Engineering Laboratory, Key Laboratory of Deep Processing Corps of Agricultural Products with Southern Xinjiang Characteristics, Key Laboratory of Modern Agricultural Engineering at Autonomous Region Level, Engineering Laboratory of Chemical Resources Utilization in Southern Xinjiang of Xinjiang Corps, International Cooperation Base of Ecological Protection and Biological Resources Utilization in Tarim Basin), and two provincial key research bases of humanities and social sciences (key research bases of humanities and social sciences in autonomous region-Institute of Non-traditional Security and Frontier Ethnic Development, Institute of Western Region Culture), Three experimental stations of the Ministry of Agriculture (agricultural product quality and safety risk assessment experimental station of the Ministry of Agriculture, scientific observation experimental station of agricultural microbial resources utilization in the northwest region of the Ministry of Agriculture, and scientific observation experimental station of crop pests in Alar of the Ministry of Agriculture) and two corps collaborative innovation (cultivation) centers (western culture and Silk Road civilization collaborative innovation center, ecological agriculture collaborative innovation center around Tarim). In the past five years, he has undertaken 1 133 scientific research projects at all levels, with a total funding of 25 1 10,000 yuan. 52 scientific research achievements1item, 498 patents, 9 standards1item and 3 new plant varieties were obtained, which made positive contributions to regional economic and social development.
Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 60,000 graduates for the country. Among them, 85% are employed in Xinjiang, 68.5% are rooted in southern Xinjiang, and more than 52% of mainland students stay in Xinjiang to work. Graduates are all over southern Xinjiang, and the party and government organs, grass-roots units and pastoral areas of all divisions and regiments of the Corps have excellent qualities of political reliability, strong practical ability and hard work. Employers generally praised "getting down, staying, using and doing well" and made outstanding contributions to the economic development, social progress, political stability, national unity and grass-roots political power construction of the autonomous region and the Corps, especially in southern Xinjiang. The school has become an important base for training high-level talents in Xinjiang and the cradle of cadres in southern Xinjiang. According to the statistics released by the Personnel Department and Education Department of the autonomous region, the employment rate of graduates of our school has been in the forefront of universities in the autonomous region for 10 years. In September 2007, the school achieved excellent results in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education.
The school has strengthened cooperation and academic exchanges with universities and research institutes at home and abroad in scientific research and personnel training, especially with China Agricultural University, Zhejiang University, Huazhong Agricultural University, beijing university of chemical technology and Donghua University, and achieved practical results. We have established close cooperative relations with Northwest A&F University, Northeast Agricultural University, Lanzhou University, Wuhan University, Nanjing Agricultural University and other universities, and established all-round substantive cooperative relations with China Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In terms of international exchange and cooperation, it has established exchange and cooperation relations with more than 20 foreign universities, including the University of Western Australia, University of London, Washington State University, Providence University and Kazakhstan National Agricultural University. At the same time, it is in close contact with various divisions and farms in southern Xinjiang, taking the road of combining Industry-University-Research and actively developing scientific and technological services to help the poor. The school has sent more than 30 science and technology deputy counties (groups) to work in local and farm areas. Teachers and students have carried out scientific and technological consultation, training and technology popularization, and trained more than 60 thousand people of all kinds.
