Xi University of Technology is a university co-founded by the central and local governments. Established in 1949. Its predecessor was Beijing Institute of Machinery and Shaanxi University of Technology. The merger of the two universities 1972 established Shaanxi Institute of Machinery, which was approved by the former State Education Commission. The school was renamed Xi University of Technology. The school has 10 colleges, including materials science and engineering college, machinery and precision instrument engineering college, automation and information engineering college, water conservancy and hydropower college, printing and packaging engineering college, business administration college, science college, humanities and social sciences college and adult education college. This university is one of the first universities in China to award doctor, master and bachelor degrees. There are 38 undergraduate majors, 35 master's programs, 13 doctoral programs, and 4 postdoctoral mobile stations for hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.
