History of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Hunan University
The material discipline of Hunan University originated from the departments of mining, kiln and machinery established in the early 20th century. 1943 the department of mining and metallurgy began to recruit graduate students. 1958 offers silicate engineering, casting, metal anticorrosion and metal physics. 198 1 authorizes the master's degree of inorganic nonmetallic materials, and 1986 authorizes the doctor's degree; 1998, granting the right of doctorate in materials physics and chemistry; In 2000, he was awarded the first-class doctorate in materials science and engineering. 200 1, postdoctoral research mobile station of materials science and engineering was established.

The College of Materials Science and Engineering was established in February 2000 on the basis of raw materials. At present, it is one of the departments with strong faculty, strong scientific research strength, good experimental conditions and leading discipline construction in Hunan University. It is also the key construction unit of "2 1 1 Project" of Hunan University and the participating unit of "985 Project" of Hunan University. Materials discipline is a key discipline in Hunan Province. In 2004, Hunan University ranked 16 and 14 in the first-level discipline evaluation of materials science and engineering of the Ministry of Education. The College of Materials Science has the right to award doctoral degrees in the first-class discipline of materials science and engineering. It has three doctoral programs and corresponding master programs in materials physics and chemistry, materials science and materials processing engineering, and a postdoctoral research mobile station in the College of Materials Science and Engineering. The College of Materials has two undergraduate majors, namely, Material Science and Engineering, Material Forming and Control Engineering, with undergraduates 1083, and the employment rate of previous undergraduates is over 98%.
