The Historical Evolution of Tongji University Library
Tongji University was founded in 1907, and has successively established libraries, reading rooms and libraries. Tongji University Library was formally established 1934. After many relocation and reconstruction, the library (main library) was built in 1990, with an area of 22,225 square meters. 1996 Shanghai Institute of Urban Construction and Shanghai Institute of Building Materials Industry merged into Tongji University, and merged with Shanghai Railway University in 2000. The library consists of the main library, Huxi branch library, Shanghai Northern Reader Service Department and Jiading Campus Library, with a total area of 687,265,438+0 square meters. A unified comprehensive management system is used among all campuses, and "one-door" management was implemented in September 2004.

Since 2005, in order to realize the unified planning, rational allocation and layout of literature resources in all departments of the school, a multi-level resource and service guarantee system has been constructed to meet the literature information needs of all kinds of readers, and the literature resources have been fully utilized to realize the coordination, * * construction, complementarity and * * * sharing of literature resources in the school under the network environment, so as to save manpower, material resources and financial resources to the maximum extent. At the same time, improve the professional and technical level of all kinds of information service personnel in the school as a whole, and improve the guarantee level of literature resources in the whole school. The library integrates the resources of branch libraries and reference rooms of all departments in the school. Up to now, 17 branch libraries and reference rooms have completed resource integration and officially opened to readers, and 5 branch libraries have completed resource integration but not officially opened to readers outside the hospital.
