Manda's daily necessities for studying abroad:
1, passport, visa and their copies.
The original should be carried with you, and the copies should be put in different boxes just in case. You don't need to bring your Chinese ID card, but you'd better bring it in case you need it back to China. The premise is to save.
2, dormitory sign-in form and passport standard size photo (I remember it is 33mm? 48 mm).
This is what Manda asked for. After applying for the dormitory, an electronic form will be sent to you. You can print it out and post photos to the dormitory management office before moving in.
If you don't have it, of course you can print it now, but it's more troublesome. You can bring two versions of standard passport size photos for dormitory registration and police station registration.
3. Students who want to continue their doctoral studies should bring the original certificates, such as degree certificates, graduation certificates, letters of recommendation, transcripts, IELTS test reports, etc. When they apply for a university, they will use it when they apply for the World Expo.
Step 4 draft
It is suggested that the amount of tuition be drawn into a draft before coming, and the payee should write the name of the university, provided that the university accepts this payment method.
As we are new here, we don't have a British bank account yet, and many schools don't allow credit cards to pay tuition fees (because of the large amount), so it is a better method, simple and convenient to use money orders.
However, it is very important that bills of exchange must be as inseparable as passports.
5. Cash and Bank of China sterling card.
You have to rely on these two things to maintain people's livelihood before you can open a British bank account. Note, however, that the GBP card of China Bank is convenient, but it is a signature card. Generally, only large stores and supermarkets are accepted, but many large but cheap stores do not!
My suggestion is to divide the money to be taken into three parts, one part is deposited in a pound card, the other part is in cash, and the other part is written by the payee himself.
Open an account as soon as possible after arriving in the UK, whether it is Barclays or HSBC. In short, open an account as soon as possible, cash the draft as soon as possible and save the money.
If you still need money later, ask your parents to transfer the money directly to your UK account, and the Bank of China can handle it.
The pound card must be kept well and signed on the back, so it is not easy to be imitated.
6. Domestic credit cards and cash.
Online banking can bring one, in which you can deposit some money and use it occasionally. For example, if you want to buy some things that are sold in limited quantities in China and want to collect them at home, you can just pay here and sign for them at home.
For example, I will buy some limited edition paintings and things like that. Take some cash, too You may need it when you return to China.
7. It is not recommended to bring things like textbooks, which are heavy and impractical.
However, students majoring in finance can copy the key chapters of domestic textbooks if they study general econometrics, and it is easier to learn English Econometrics Society after reading Chinese.
Clothing, shoes and hats, bedding, etc.
1, clothes
It should be said that it is very convenient to buy clothes in England. The price of clothes ranges from low to high. You can decide how many clothes to take according to the weight of your luggage. If you don't like European and American styles, bring more.
Generally, girls will definitely buy clothes, so they can bring less in moderation. It's not too cold in winter in Manchester City, so you don't need to wear down jackets.
Girls can bring more summer clothes, because there is a big gap between summer clothes and domestic styles. It is worth mentioning that the clothes are formal, and it is best to bring a full set, which will be needed to participate in the employment activities organized by the school.
And underwear, preferably for one year. It's more expensive here, and it's not easy to buy. It's convenient to bring two pajamas when you first arrive here, and it's not expensive in the cheap shopping malls here.
In addition, there are prom dresses. Don't bring cheongsam. Cheongsam is not suitable for dancing. The clothes bought here will be better.
In order to save space, buy several vacuum compression bags, put clothes in them evenly, and vacuum them step by step, but be careful not to scratch the vacuum bags with sharp tools.
2. shoes
Sports shoes, booties, small leather shoes and flat shoes are totally unnecessary. It's very complete here in Britain, and there are many styles, so it's easy to buy. But slippers must be brought!
There seems to be no indoor slippers here. Be sure to bring non-slip, it is not easy to slip after taking a shower. You can bring one or two pairs of summer sandals and a pair of shoes to wear with formal clothes.
Of course, if the luggage has space, you can also bring what you usually like to wear. Also, the insoles here are very expensive, so it is necessary to bring more pairs.
Step 3: bedding
If possible, bring a silk quilt, which is light and comfortable, warm in winter and cool in summer. Bring two sheets, quilt cover and pillow towel, which is convenient to change and wash, and the pillowcase can be omitted. These will be very expensive in Britain. Don't bring a pillow.
Vacuum these like clothes. Because dormitory rooms in British universities have heating, it is generally not cold in winter.
Another reason is that when I first arrived in England, it would be more troublesome without a quilt. Of course, many schools will provide bedding when booking dormitories, and how much is a set, but the quality of things is average, so I'm afraid I have to buy them again in the future.
4. Others
It is best to buy all kinds of scarves, hats and gloves in winter. It's much more expensive here than in China. A scarf costs more than twenty pounds.
Prepare a glove and a scarf. Then there are socks, whether they are stockings or socks, which are a little more expensive than domestic ones at most, but in fact, socks don't account for much weight at all, so you can bring more.
Of course, if girls like to wear scarves or something, they can bring some. The style here is not as good as that in China.
5, jewelry headwear, etc.
You'd better not bring jewelry, especially since it is very expensive and unnecessary. You can bring more headgear, such as rubber bands and clips. These small objects don't weigh much, but they are usually very convenient to use.
