CAPLE Portuguese proficiency test is a part of the evaluation and certification system of Portuguese as a foreign language, which is used to certify the basic Portuguese communication ability of teenagers and adults who use Portuguese as a foreign language.
In the overseas examination center in Portugal, this level examination is held three times a year (for example, May, July, 1 1 month), which is divided into six grades, corresponding to five certificates/diplomas. The Oriental Portuguese Institute, approved by the Portuguese Language Center, guarantees to hold three Portuguese proficiency tests every year. The schedule and timetable are shown in the figure below.
Celpe-Bras is a Portuguese proficiency test for foreigners whose mother tongue is not Portuguese. It is a language test conducted in Brazil and other countries under the sponsorship of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC), Anisio teixeira Institute of Education (INEP) and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). Celpe-Bras certificate is the only Portuguese proficiency test certificate officially recognized by the Brazilian government. (At present, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and People's Bank of China only recognize this certificate when applying for Portuguese major online. )
Internationally, this certificate is recognized by enterprises and educational institutions as a proof of the professional level of Portuguese. In Brazil, universities require foreigners to hold Celpe-Bras certificates in order to take undergraduate or postgraduate courses. For foreigners who plan to work in Brazil, this certificate can be equivalent to a vocational diploma.
For foreigners who intend to study, work or immigrate to Brazil, holders of this card enjoy certain priority when applying for a visa to go abroad.
