Guangxi University Library has established a high-speed LAN with gigabit backbone and 100 megabytes to the desktop, and all business work is managed by computer. There are more than 600 computers (or terminals) connected with campus network, education network and Internet, which realizes the seamless connection between the library automation management system and the department reference room business management system. The capacity of special storage equipment in digital library reaches 20TB, forming a convenient distributed digital information service network.
The library of Guangxi University (including college reference room) has a total collection of 4.95 million books, including 3.02 million printed books, 6.5438+0.92 million e-books and 6.5438+0.7 million full-text e-periodicals, forming a multi-discipline and multi-level covering 9 disciplines such as philosophy, economics, law, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, management and teaching.
The library of Guangxi University is basically in line with international standards in terms of architecture, facilities, service functions and management mode, which embodies a brand-new concept: large bay, full shelves, staggered dense shelves on each floor and ordinary shelves, integrating storage, borrowing, reading, inspection and management, allowing the library to be included in the library, opening continuously from 7: 50 to 22: 30 every day, and opening as high as/kloc-0 every week. In addition to the regular book lending service, the library can also provide various forms of electronic information services such as network 24×7 collection bibliographic information inquiry, new book release, CD-ROM and network database retrieval, multimedia resource browsing, reference service, interlibrary loan and document delivery, reader training, thematic information navigation, and in-depth information services such as sci-tech novelty retrieval, proxy retrieval and topic selection service.
The library of Guangxi University actively participates in * * * building * * knowledge * * * literature information resources sharing activities, and has established extensive cooperative relations with major libraries and information centers in China. It is one of the participating units of CALIS university dissertations database, the C-level cataloging member library of CALIS online cataloging cooperation center, and now it is the secretariat of Guangxi University Library and Information Work Committee and the library professional committee of Guangxi Higher Education Society.
