Opticalengineering refers to a kind of engineering that applies optical theory to practice. Optical engineering designs optical instruments, such as lenses, microscopes and telescopes, and also includes other devices that use optical characteristics. In addition, optical engineering also studies optical sensors and related measurement systems, lasers, optical fiber communication and optical disks (such as CDs and DVDs).
Introduction to optical engineering;
Because the components designed and developed in optical engineering need to use light to achieve specific purposes, optical engineering needs to understand the nature of light and know the limits that can be reached in the laboratory. In practice, available technologies, materials, costs and design methods need to be considered. Optical engineering, similar to other engineering fields, also uses computer-aided design process.
It can be used in combination with instruments, optical simulation, optical system design and other applications. Engineers often use tools such as spreadsheets and programming languages. Of course, optical engineers often use tools or software packages for optical design.
The Institute of Optical Engineering Metrology uses optical methods to measure micro-vibration with instruments such as laser speckle interferometer, or to measure the characteristics of different objects with instruments that measure refraction.
