Zhaoqing University was developed on the basis of Xijiang University and Zhaoqing Education College. Xijiang University, formerly known as Zhaoqing Normal School, was named after Guangdong Education Administration College was decentralized to Xinxing County in Zhaoqing in 1970. 1977 was approved by the State Council, and it was renamed Zhaoqing Teachers College. 1979 moved to its current location to run a school. 1985, Guangdong Provincial People's Government reported to the State Education Commission for the record, and Xijiang University was established on the basis of Zhaoqing Normal University. The former Zhaoqing Institute of Education, formerly known as Zhaoqing Normal School, was established in 1977. 1980 was renamed Zhaoqing normal college, and 1983 was renamed Zhaoqing education college. In March 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the two universities merged to form Zhaoqing College at the undergraduate level.
Zhaoqing University is a public full-time comprehensive undergraduate university, 90 kilometers away from Guangzhou, located in Zhaoqing, the Pearl River Delta city of Guangdong.
