Nyu shanghai is a Sino-American joint research university, co-founded by East China Normal University and new york University. Although nyu shanghai was established with the strong support of the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Pudong New Area Government, it was not included in the National 985 Project or the 2 1 1 list of engineering universities. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Education, Project 985 and Project 2 1 1 are two important plans of higher education in China, aiming at improving the educational quality and scientific research level of some key universities in China. Therefore, nyu shanghai does not belong to 985 University, nor does it belong to 2 1 1 University.
