In the past, the school was located in Juri, Naha City, and later moved to Zhongtou County, Okinawa Prefecture in order to rebuild Ryukyu Village. There is a big pond in the center of the university, so the department is divided into several parts. On the north side (Ginowa side), there are departments of agriculture and engineering, and on the southeast side, there are departments of French, education, science, school headquarters and student canteen. The departments of agriculture and engineering are far away from the center of the school, so some students jokingly call them "Gino A&M University".
