The French language and literature major of Shanghai International Studies University implements the bilingual teaching system of French and English. It mainly trains senior French professionals who have a solid French language foundation and extensive scientific and cultural knowledge and can engage in translation, research, teaching and management in foreign affairs, economy and trade, culture, education, scientific research, news, publishing, tourism and other departments. Students mainly study the basic theories and knowledge of French language, literature, geography, history, politics, economy, law and social culture.

Main courses: basic French, advanced French, French audio-visual speaking, extensive reading, translation, interpretation, French writing, French literature, general situation of France, etc. After four years of systematic study and strict training, students will have a solid foundation of French language and considerable professional knowledge, and have skilled comprehensive skills such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation.

English minor courses: English comprehensive course, English audio-visual speaking, translation theory and skills, English selected reading, etc. Graduates must all reach CET-4, and most of them are expected to reach TEM-8, with good English-Chinese interpretation and translation skills. After graduation, students have strong ability to analyze and solve practical problems independently and a certain level of scientific research.

There is also a major in French/business enterprise management, which is jointly trained by Shanghai International Studies University and the School of Advanced Enterprise Management of the University of Grenoble, France. It has a history of nearly 30 years since it was launched in 1980s, and it is one of the earliest international talent training programs of Shanghai International Studies University. Students majoring in this major majored in French and minored in English in the first two years; In the last two years, French and management have been paid equal attention to, and all management courses have been undertaken by teachers of the French Enterprise Management Institute. Bilingual teaching in French/English is carried out at the undergraduate level, and the English level is required to reach Band 4. While completing all the courses prescribed by Shanghai International Studies University and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree, you must complete the management courses undertaken by France and pass the written test and interview organized by France. Those who pass the examination will be admitted to the French Enterprise Management Institute and continue to study related master's courses in France. They can study for master's degrees in four different directions: finance, marketing, enterprise management and information management.
